Fabulous Finds in February

Here’s what I got at my Salvation Army Family Store this month for around $25. I took advantage of some sale days this month and was able to score even more items and savings!!

Mossimo Wool Coa
$3.74 (25% of Women’s Clothing)

This coat is from Target, would have probably retailed for over $40 in store.  I love the details in this coat – the shape and the zipper are so fun.  I’ve already worn it several times this month!!

NWT Children’s Place Dress

Love it when I find new items at my local Salvation Army Family Thrift!!  I’ve been able to pick up several new baby items that I can give as gifts to family and friends.  This dress still had the bloomers attached and would have retailed for around $20 at The Children’s Place.

Moto Jacket
$3.74 (25% of Women’s Clothing)

I have been on the hunt for a fun brown leather or faux leather jacket for over a year now.  When I saw this jacket I was thrilled!!  I love the edgy zippers and buttons.  I wasn’t sure if the staple would leave holes on the lapel, but when I examined it a bit further the staple was put right on a seam – yeah no holes!!

Gymboree Sweater Dress

This dress is adorable, but is missing a few buttons.  I can easily sew on a few buttons to make this dress sparkle even more.

Shopping tip – most retail tags give you the date of manufacturing either on the sizing tag or the inseam tag.  This dress was manufactured in 2013 which tells me this is a fairly new item.  There are also websites out there that tell you line of clothing it came from and if there are any other coordinating items.  I’ve used this information to locate coordinating clothing on websites like Ebay.  One year for Christmas, I found a vest and plaid shirt set at a garage sale for one son, then another set at a thrift for another, and then Ebay for the third.  I paid a fraction of the cost of what I would have spent in the store!!

Owl Teapot

This teapot is just adorable!!  I have a friend who just purchased her first home this past year and this owl teapot was a perfect addition for her!!

NWOT Gap Swim Shirt

This swim shirt is super cute.  I don’t have a matching swimsuit for it yet, but I’ll be on the hunt for a swim brief in one of the colors or a coordinating swimsuit.  Since I purchased this I’ve been checking out Ebay as well.

Old Navy T-shirt
$2.24 (25% of Women’s Clothing)

This shirt is from Old Navy’s Fall 2014 collection, so someone must have worn this shirt once or been the wrong size!!  It’s super light weight and will be great to layer with a blazer or cardigan, jeans, and boots.

Land’s End Cardigan

Land’s End is one of my favorite catalogs!!  I drool over their women’s wear and their kids wear is super cute.  this cardigan will be a perfect fall/winter layer.

Gap Shirt
$3.74 (25% of Women’s Clothing)

I’ve been trying to find a navy, green, and yellow plaid button up for sometime and this one is so comfy and perfect.  I love layering in the fall and winter.  I’ve layered this shirt with a yellow sweater and brown tweed blazer!!

Taylor Dress
$2.98 (1/2 price sale)

This brand is sold at Nordstrom, Macys, and Lord and Taylor.  I glanced at Taylor’s website and their dresses retail for over $100!!  I just liked the dress because of the shape, pattern, colors, and fun zipper!!  Yippee!!

I don’t mind buying something for a fraction of the cost if it is missing a button or needing some minor repairs or tweaks.  If you can see the potential in something, I would encourage to buy it and see what you can do with it.  Even if you have to take a piece of clothing to a tailor to fix or tweak, you will still be paying far less than what you would be if you bought it retail.  I have bought several items that just needed some tweaking and they have turned out amazing!!

Be Thrifty!!

About Me: I’m Nikki!!  I’ve been married to Tommy for 17 years.  I’m a stay-at-home-mom of four, who loves a good bargain.  I love thrifting for ANYTHING!  From an early age, thrifting was a way of life for me.  My family is fashionably clothed and my home comfortably furnished, with second hand finds.  I am alway scouting out Craigslist, thrift stores, garage sales, and dumpsters for goodies!!  I find more joy out of finding an awesome used item, than when I find a retail sale.  I’m not afraid to revamp an outdated outfit, think outside the box, or tackle a renovation project with my treasures.

  1. I loved reading this article. I felt like it was me writing it. I absolutely love thrift stores, yard sales, curb side gems, flea markets, and all the other ways to buy used items. It’s so rewarding to find an item for a fraction of the cost of buying it in a store. I am frugal but not overly frugal. I just love finding an awesome deal. I look forward to someone asking me to be on the lookout for a particular item. Cause I will go out of my way to find it. My adrenaline goes sky high and vi am on the prowl!! Lol ! Thank you for the article. It was a joy to read!!

  2. Thanks Heather K!! Hope you’ve been reading the rest of our blog!! I find more satisfaction in finding an awesome deal in the thrift store than I do when I shop retail!! If you find any great deals from Salvation Army – post them on our Facebook page!!
