Fashion Trend – Floral
April showers bring May flowers!! Spring and summer is the perfect time to wear something floral. I have a variety of floral pieces in my wardrobe – skirts, dresses, and blouses. I have also snagged several floral pieces for my daughter. Most of which, I have picked up at my local Salvation Army Family Thrift Store.
Florals are super easy to spy!! Sometimes when I pop in to a thrift store, I will just look for a easily spotted pattern – for example – stripes, plaid, or floral. This is great if I’m short on time. Whether you want trendy pieces or classics that will stay in your closet for years to come, florals are a versatile option to have in your spring/summer wardrobe.
This dress combines two of my favorite things – vintage and bold color!! I loved this dress as soon as I saw it at my local Salvation Army. The cut is both flattering and classic. I wore this on a tropical vacation a few years ago and think about the ocean every time I pull it out to wear. I can also add a sweater or jean jacket too, it if I need a layer.
I picked up this skirt this winter and having been waiting patiently to wear it. I love the botanical print and of course, the pockets. I’ve paired it with a JCrew chambray shirt and vintage heels which are both from Salvation Army.
I featured these capris in my office wear entry www.familystoreskansascity.wordpress.com/2014/05/20/office-wear-featuring-pants. I wore these pants a lot last summer and am ready to pull them out again. I have dressed them up, but have also worn them with just a t-shirt and sandals.
This dress was a little outside the box for me. I am more of a bright or jewel tone girl, but when I saw this dress I loved the femininity of it. I felt so girly in it!! This dress would be perfect for Easter, a special event like Mother’s Day, a wedding, or an anniversary dinner.
These are a few samples of floral items I have picked up for my daughter. A girl can never have enough dresses or florals in her closet!!
Even though I have a closet full of floral, I’m on the hunt for a floral midi skirt and a floral scarf!!
Have fun with this trend that will always be a classic in my eyes!!
About Me: I’m Nikki!! I’ve been married to Tommy for 17 years. I’m a stay-at-home-mom of four, who loves a good bargain. I love thrifting for ANYTHING! From an early age, thrifting was a way of life for me. My family is fashionably clothed and my home comfortably furnished, with second hand finds. I am alway scouting out Craigslist, thrift stores, garage sales, and dumpsters for goodies!! I find more joy out of finding an awesome used item, than when I find a retail sale. I’m not afraid to revamp an outdated outfit, think outside the box, or tackle a renovation project with my treasures.
