Feeling sporty

Kansas City area Has been a wonderful city for us to raise our family!  After graduate school, we already had two kids in tow and had to do a lot of thinking about what our next step would be for our futures.  We made the choice to stay here in the KC area.  We are so happy we did!

One of the great things about this city are all the SPORTS!!  And with that , many opportunities to take your family to all of these sporting events.  Football, baseball, soccer, hockey.. I am sure there are more that I don’t know of.  However, going to these events can be quite costly and everyone wants to be in spirit wear while attending the games.  One way I have found to make everyone happy, is to thrift for the local sport teams attire.  I am usually pretty lucky to find whatever team I need. Pro, college, and even local high school.

Here are a few samples of some  team apparel that I have picked up or seen in store the last few months.  All of the items I purchase are in excellent used condition and are a fraction of the cost if I were to purchase it at the game.

My kids are huge Kansas University fans:  I can usually find KU items easily. I also purchased a few Missouri items for a friend.

Kansas City Chiefs and Royals items are good to find too!  Especially if you search during the off season

These are just a few samples of what I have bought  in the past for our family.  You too can be all decked out in your favorite team apparel  at your next sporting event! Be sure to check out Salvation Army Family Thrift before you enjoy the game!

Sporty Finds….

I have shared before about my sporty finds… as it does seem to be quite popular in my house especially with the boys. I always check out SAFTS when my boys are in need.

Sporty brands tend to be a little pricey at retail and I love to make my kids happy.  Thrifting meets both of our needs: Me saving money and my boys looking trendy in their sporty wear!

Here are some samples of clothing I picked up this month

UA Adidas

I picked up this awesome pull-over for my husband for $1.99( ½ off mens clothing day).  He needed this for his cold baseball games and the color was perfect!

I even found a few sporty items for myself.  One brand that I have loved since college, is Eddie Bauer.  I got these EB Sport pants.  Perfect for Springtime.  I love the fabric and all the pockets, but I especially love the price of $2.99 compared to $89 retail! I also purchased this Nike pull-over and this Nike work out tank. Happy Momma, happy family!!

Pink green

I find myself always thinking of my friends when I am shopping.  My boys did not have a need for these shoes, but I couldn’t pass them up for only $3.99.  They were brand new, looked like they had never been worn.  I knew a friend of mine could use them for their son.  (file 40)  If purchased retail they would have been at least $40!  So happy I could save them some money!

Go Royals!! Go Sporting KC

and always, Be thrifty!!

About me: Hi, I’m Gretchen! I’ve been married for 18 years to my high school sweetie. We have four kids, 2 girls and 2 boys. I was raised by a thrifty mom. She taught me to be very resourceful with all things, but especially when making a home. It is an adrenaline rush for me when find a name brand item and I LOVE to share it with my friends. I know my family and I can be very fashionable and I take great pride in knowing I can do it thrifting. My goal is to carry this legacy through my children, as my Mom did me. Thrift on!
